- Summary
Serves as a municipal prosecutor in the City of Lubbock Municipal Court as part of the City Attorney’s Office.
- Essential Functions
- Be assigned as a Municipal Court Prosecutor to present cases before Municipal Court;
- Prosecute city ordinances and Texas Penal Code Class "C" misdemeanors;
- Assist other city attorneys in preparation of trial briefs and pleadings;
- Research various city codes to facilitate code enforcement by various City departments;
- Preparing, researching, arguing, filing and responding to motions;
- Report directly to the Chief Municipal Prosecutor;
- Perform related duties as directed.
- Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited law school with a J.D. degree and licensed to practice before all courts of the State of Texas.
Valid Current Driver's License
Licensed to Practice Law in the State of Texas- Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of federal, state, and local laws relating to local government, along with legal research methods.
- Prepare cases for prosecution in Municipal Court;
- Engage in detailed legal research and writing, including computer aided electronic research;
- Litigate and prosecute on behalf of the city;
- Communicate effectively with others.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds;
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees;
- Place arms above, at, and below should height.
