Job Description

Job Summary

 

The Contract Paralegal is responsible for supporting the Credit Team in a variety of matters that impact our business including contract review/revisions for our Commercial Fireplace and Rebar Teams.  The Credit team will also require support for the processing of daily accounts receivable functions; compiling and tracking various division reports; review and execution of commercial fireplace and rebar contracts, insurance compliance and support to sales/operations/department managers.  

Essential Functions

  1. Reviewing, Editing, Negotiating and Executing Commercial Fireplace and Rebar Contracts.
  2. Working with Sales Reps on Tracking Commercial Fireplace and Rebar Contracts, creating the Schedule of Values, ordering the required Insurance Documents, Complete the OCIP/Wrap enrollment documents as required.
  3. Provide Training to the AR Team on billing Contracted Commercial Projects
  4. Monitor Project Billings, Completed the requested Waivers per Pay Application.
  5. Verify and Execute Change Orders, update the SOV as needed to reflect Change Orders.
  6. Process all Close Out Document Requests and required Tax Compliance Reporting
  7. Processing accounting receivables and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  8. Track and Enter Debits for Pay Applications and Retention Entries.
  9. Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording account receivable data.
  10. External/Internal Customer Service/Collections on Commercial and Medium Sized Accounts Receivable Portfolio, such as posting customer payments, verifying transactions, maintaining records and adjusting accounts
  11. Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit lines and coordinating contact with appropriate individuals.
  12. Summarize receivables by maintaining invoice accounts, coordinating monthly account receivable accounts, verifying totals and preparing reports
  13. Participate in Continuing Educational Seminars/Classes as offered by NACM and Mountain States Commercial Credit, to keep up on the changing Credit/Collections environment and Laws.
  14. Ability to maintain a safe working environment.

Job Requirements

 

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit and/or Paralegal experience.
  • Associates and/or bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business administration is preferred 
  • Paralegal certificate is required.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
  • Excellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision 
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Knowledge of construction/building industry
  • Ability to drive a standard vehicle
  • Strong Internal/External Customer Relations

 

Working Conditions

Constant = 75 – 100% of the time; Frequent = 50 – 75% of the time; Occasional = 25 – 50% of the time; Rare = less than 25% of the time

 

Work Environment:

  • Constant work performed in a climate-controlled environment

  • Frequent work performed in a sedentary position
  • Occasional work performed while standing
  • Occasional ability to lift, bend, stop, and kneel
  • Rare ability for non-CDL driving
