About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army Installation Management Command, U.S. Army Garrison (Fort Eisenhower), Installation Legal Office, Eisenhower, GA. If you are currently serving in a permanent, competitive service appointment in the Federal service, and are selected for this position, the appointment will remove you from the competitive service while you occupy this position.
Duties- Serves as Chief of Client Services, responsible for managing the Client Services Program (Legal Assistance, Claims, and Special Victims Counsel).
- Scope of responsibilities and assignments encompass all areas of activities, and all aspects of law related to client services within the OSJA.
- Supervises, mentors, and oversees the work of both military and civilian personnel to include two attorneys, 5 paralegal/support personnel, and approximately 20 seasonal volunteers.
- Responsible for supervision and professional development of military and civilian personnel engaged in attorney, paraprofessional and legal clerk duties.
- Supports management programs and goals, such as Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Health and Safety Programs.
- Serves as the legal expert and authority on all client services support, including legal assistance (e.g., policy, training, substantive law, preventative law), Claims, and the Soldier Readiness Processing site.
- Provides professional legal advice and representation to active duty and retired personnel, family members, and authorized civilian personnel .
- Develops legal basis for and legal content of client services command policy and regulations.
- Reviews, investigates, adjudicates and processes claims in favor of, and against, all DA activities within the assigned command area which encompass Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan.
- Investigates and processes personal injury, medical malpractice, property damage liability and comparable claims filed against the US under the Federal Tort Claims Act.
- Provides supervision of the Legal Assistance Office Special Victim Counsel Program (SVCP); a program directed by the SECDEF to provide legal assistance and representation to victims of sexual assault.
