What are we looking for?
Education and Experience:
· Associate’s degree in paralegal studies; or
· Bachelor’s degree in any subject and at least 18 hours of paralegal studies;
· Substantive experience providing legal support to attorneys;
· Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Competencies:
Knowledge of:
· Case file organization and management;
· Legal discovery procedures and techniques; and
· Investigative techniques, legal concepts of state law, policies, administrative regulations, and case law.
· State licensing experience a plus.
Ability to:
· Manage work flow and timely responses;
· Communicate professionally and directly;
· Identify confidential and privileged material;
· Make decisions about the substance of material that will be released as part of a public record request;
· Appropriately redact confidential and privileged information with input from Attorney;
· Provide litigation support, though lawsuits are somewhat rare in this field.
· Work independently, effectively manage time, and meet varying demands of the position which may include extremely short deadlines, complex and detailed projects;
· Calendar critical deadlines and set appropriate task reminders;
· Act with initiative and apply sound judgment to a variety of assignments; and
· Handle confidential and sensitive material;

What is this career opportunity?
The Division is seeking an experienced paralegal. The Paralegal will play a vital role in supporting the Division attorney and other Division staff through all phases of case management, depository and non-depository examinations, and litigation. This position requires a proactive and organized individual with excellent communication and research skills who can adjust to a rapidly changing legal environment. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
This position also serves as the primary point-of-contact for the public with complaints or questions about financial institutions under the Division’s jurisdiction.
