Salary
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated attorney with up to five (5) years of experience to join our in-house legal team for business operations. This role will involve supporting a variety of legal matters critical to our business operations, with a primary focus on software license agreements, workers' compensation administration and oversight, contract review and development, sweepstakes compliance, employment law matters, copyright issues, and other related legal areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Workers' Compensation Administration and Oversight:
- Manage and oversee workers' compensation claims and related legal processes.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and company policies regarding workers' compensation.
- Contract Review and Development:
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including vendor agreements, software license agreements, service contracts, and client agreements.
- Provide guidance on contractual terms, risks, and legal implications.
- Employment Law Matters:
- Counsel HR and management on employment law issues including hiring, termination, discrimination, and harassment.
- Draft and/or review employment agreements, policies, and handbooks.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Monitor regulatory changes and industry developments affecting the business.
- Develop and implement compliance strategies and policies.
- Litigation Support:
- Assist external counsel in litigation matters as necessary.
- Manage discovery, document production, and other litigation-related tasks.
- Sweepstakes Compliance:
- Advise on legal requirements for sweepstakes and promotional contests.
- Review promotional materials and rules for compliance with applicable laws.
- Copyright/Trademark Issues:
- Assist with copyright registrations and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
- Respond to copyright infringement claims and manage copyright issues as they arise.
- General Legal Support:
- Provide legal guidance and support to various departments across the organization.
- Research legal issues and prepare legal memoranda and opinions.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice law in California and in good standing.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation, contract law, employment law, sweepstakes law, and copyright law.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the professional sports or entertainment industry.
- Familiarity with corporate governance and compliance practices.
- Prior experience managing or assisting with litigation matters.
Annual Salary: $120,000 - $150,000
