ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

JOB DESCRIPTION: Singleton Schreiber, LLP is seeking a motivated Civil Rights Attorney to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to advocate for individuals whose rights have been violated. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and a strong intellectual curiosity, with an interest in shaping and advancing civil rights case law.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

$100,000-$150,000 annually

Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screen potential civil rights cases, including doing in-depth legal research to assess their merits before taking on the matter.
  • Participate in litigation for civil rights cases from inception to resolution, including drafting and preparing pleadings, managing discovery, and researching, writing and arguing complex motions.
  • Take and defend depositions and make court appearances when necessary.
  • Work closely with clients from diverse backgrounds, including incarcerated individuals.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and other members of the legal team on case strategy and case development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law.
  • 2+ years of experience in litigation, with a preference for civil rights and/or constitutional law and trial experience.
  • Strong research and legal writing skills, with an emphasis on complex motions and case law development.
  • Experience in handling depositions, court hearings, and appeals.
  • A strong interest in civil rights advocacy and the intellectual curiosity to engage in case law development.
  • A passion for justice and advancing civil rights through litigation.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team of attorneys.
