About the Role:We seek a highly skilled and motivated Intellectual Property (IP) Paralegal to join our dynamic IP team. This role involves supporting a range of IP matters, primarily focused on trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement. The ideal candidate will have a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. You Will:Prepare, file, and prosecute foreign and domestic trademark and copyright documents.
Record trademark and copyright assignments and manage related documentation.
Communicate with international counsel regarding trademark enforcement matters.
Perform trademark searches and analyze results.
Maintain and review the IP docket to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare and file domain name applications and renewals.
Draft correspondence related to trademark and copyright matters.
Conduct factual investigations and summarise information for attorneys and clients.
Assist in reviewing, analyzing, and prosecuting U.S. and international trademark applications, including office action responses.
Review and process trademark watch notices and assist attorneys on potential matters.
Manage trademark renewal processes and coordinate with international vendors on foreign trademark renewals and title updates.
Assist in trademark oppositions, cancellations, and other proceedings; compile supporting evidence and materials.
Prepare documents in compliance with country-specific trademark requirements, including notarization and legalization.
Support trademark-related projects, including acquisitions, audits, and portfolio management.
Provide support for copyright-related tasks, including reviewing and processing copyright permission requests.
Education: Bachelor's or Associate’s degrees in Paralegal Studies or related fields. A Paralegal Certificate is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trademark prosecution, with demonstrated proficiency in managing domestic and international trademark portfolios.Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Access; familiarity with trademark databases and docketing systems. Experience with trademark search tools is a plus.
Interpersonal Skills: Solid organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and manage your workload with minimal supervision.
Industry Experience: Experience in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare sectors is a plus but not required.
Desirable Skills:
Familiarity with U.S. and international trademark filing processes and procedures.
Strong knowledge of the USPTO, WIPO, and other global trademark authorities.
Experience in preparing and filing office action responses and handling trademark renewals.
Ability to assist with trademark and copyright litigation and enforcement actions.
Knowledge of the Paris Convention and international IP laws is a plus.
