
About Stoel Rives and the Energy Development Team
Our Energy Development team consists of over 100 lawyers who provide services to traditional and renewable energy clients. Our services within the team include corporate and industrial energy management, energy finance, energy litigation, and utility solutions. We are nationally recognized for work on projects including solar power, wind power, pipelines, hydropower, natural gas plants, renewable gas facilities, transmission lines, and bioenergy projects. We are proud to have led development and financing of close to one-quarter of wind energy production in the United States.
Role Overview
Stoel Rives LLP is seeking an associate with 3 to 5 years of experience to join the transactions team of its nationally recognized energy development practice group in either Minneapolis, Minnesota or Portland, Oregon. The ideal candidate has experience in general corporate work, M&A and finance transactions, with experience in or knowledge of energy transactions, including project development (site control, power purchase agreements, engineering, procurement and construction agreements, supply agreements and/or operations and maintenance agreements), or an interest in learning.
Attorneys in this role can expect direct client exposure, and often interface with colleagues across offices and practice groups. The associate in this role will independently produce client-ready documents and will work with others on complex transactions.

Experience in, or interest in learning, energy transactions including project development (outlined above);
Experience in M&A, securities, equity and debt financing.

A commitment to client service and team success;
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative environment;
JD from an accredited university; and
Active membership or commitment to applying for the Minnesota or Oregon Bar.

How You Will Live Life Well at Stoel Rives: Compensation, Benefits, and More!
The pay range for this position is $205,000 - $220,000+ (MSP) or $185,000 – $215,000+ (PDX); however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location.
