Description of Work

SALARY RANGE: $38,574.00 - $45,000.00

This position is time-limited, grant funded, full-time.
Funding for this position will end on September 30, 2026.

The District Attorney's Office, Prosecutorial District 20, seeks a qualified candidate to provide legal services and peer support services for the DWI Treatment Court program.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Duties include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Answering phones

  • Assisting the public with information regarding the DWI Treatment Court

  • Typing correspondence and court reports

  • Assisting victims and witnesses understand and prepare for court

  • Gather information to assist in the prosecution of cases for the DWI Treatment Court

  • Providing coaching, encouragement, and support for participants

  • Connecting clients with resources related to housing, employment, and additional treatment and support resources

  • Helping participants manage their court sessions, treatment appointments, and support group meetings

  • Reporting concerns about the safety and health of participants to the Treatment Court team

  • Keeping accurate records of participant encounters, support services provided, and milestones reached by participants 

  • Communicating updates about participants to the Treatment Court team and the Treatment Court Coordinator

  • Writing and maintaining recovery reviews for participant files,

  • Attending court sessions 

  • Maintaining a professional working relationship with participants and Treatment Court team members

  • Assist the Treatment Court Coordinator with daily tasks

  • Presenting about the DWI Treatment Court program and about recovery to the public and stakeholders

  • Maintaining confidentiality of participants' recovery process

Knowledge, skills and abilities/competencies:

Knowledge of: the court system and procedures; community resources to refer victims, witnesses, and Treatment Court participants; the recovery process.

Skill in: Microsoft Office Word, accurate typing skills, answer a multi-line telephone system, electronic communication such as email. 

Ability to: interview to elicit information from victims, witnesses and Treatment Court participants to assure appropriate services; coordinate and schedule the daily operations of participant treatment appointments and support group meetings; manage the court appearances of participants to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed; communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds and job roles; establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies, the general public, and participants of the Court; and calmly handle stressful situations.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate and two (2) years of legal secretarial experience.

Management prefers candidates with a Peer Support Specialist Certification.
