Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented paralegal with 2-10 years of experience in construction defect litigation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in paralegal duties, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work on complex legal matters and contribute to the success of our firm.

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field
  • 2-10 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on construction defect litigation
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing
  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Key Responsibilities
  1. Case Management:
    • Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal
    • Manage case files and maintain accurate and up-to-date records
    • Coordinate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel
    • Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
    • Monitor and calendar important dates and deadlines
  2. Document Management:
    • Organize and maintain electronic and physical document databases
    • Review and analyze construction documents, contracts, and correspondence
    • Prepare document indices and summaries
    • Assist in document production and manage document review processes
  3. Legal Research and Writing:
    • Conduct legal research on construction defect and litigation-related issues
    • Draft legal memoranda, briefs, and other legal documents
    • Assist in preparing expert witness reports and exhibits
    • Summarize deposition transcripts and prepare deposition summaries
  4. Discovery and Investigation:
    • Assist in preparing and responding to discovery requests
    • Coordinate site inspections and document reviews
    • Interview witnesses and gather relevant information
    • Prepare chronologies and timelines of events
  5. Trial Preparation:
    • Assist in preparing trial exhibits and demonstrative aids
    • Organize and maintain trial notebooks and files
    • Coordinate with expert witnesses and prepare them
