
Litigation Legal Assistant
Brooks Law Group is seeking an experienced litigation support team member to join our firm in Winter Haven, FL. We need someone committed to innovation, ready to advance with our growing firm and achieve our strategic goals.
The legal assistant must be highly organized and able to work on a varied caseload, take pride in what they do, because they will assist the attorney and team in developing personal injury settlements, preparing documents and correspondence as needed. Ideal candidate should be customer oriented and Bilingual is a plus but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS NEEDED
- Extensive knowledge/understanding of Florida Insurance Laws
- Negotiating skills
- Ability to be a team player and follow procedures
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to be creative and "think outside of the box"
- Proactive interaction with clients, insurance companies and medical providers
- Excellent organizational skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and organize case files, calendars, and deadlines.
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, medical providers, and opposing counsel
- Complete intakes on prospective cases.
- Order medical records from providers and communicate with them during course of treatment.
- Prepare and file legal documents including complaints, answers, discovery requests/responses, motions, and subpoenas.
- Schedule and coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and meetings.
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits and witness coordination
- Assist paralegals with attorney deadlines.
Office Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM
Pay: Hourly competitive based on experience and certification
