Insurance Defense Attorney

We are seeking a dedicated Insurance Defense Attorney to join our team in North Jersey, NJ, operating out of our Jersey City Office with flexible hybrid work arrangements.

This role is designed for an attorney with 3 to 8 years of insurance defense litigation experience who is comfortable independently managing a caseload while working closely with experienced litigators and firm leadership. Experience handling New Jersey automobile liability matters is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a robust caseload of insurance defense matters from initial inception through final resolution.

Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, status reports, and other critical litigation documents.

Conduct and defend depositions, handle routine motion practice, and make courtroom appearances.

Participate actively in arbitrations, mediations, and trial preparations.

Handle specialized automobile liability matters under New Jersey law.

Maintain strong, professional relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, and corporate clients.

Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft persuasive legal memoranda and motions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required Education & Licensure: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active New Jersey law license.

Experience: 3 to 8 years of dedicated insurance defense litigation experience, with a proven track record of independently managing files, pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motion practice.

Skills: Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.

Strong Pluses: New Jersey automobile liability defense experience, prior representation of insurance carriers or self-insured entities, trial/courtroom experience, premises liability experience, and existing professional relationships with insurance carriers or claims professionals.

Location: Jersey City Office, North Jersey, NJ

Schedule: Flexible hybrid arrangement (new attorneys are generally expected in the Jersey City office 2–3 days per week initially, with a supportive and flexible approach).

Salary

• $125,000 - $165,000/year
