What you will be doing:

  • Facilitate a work environment that fosters and supports ethical decision-making and actions by motivating, promoting, and modeling ethical behavior, as well as executing job responsibilities in accordance with Slide's core values and policies.
  • Manage activities and team members in department including training, development, and developing individual team member goals.
  • Responsible for developing a Litigation Plan in conjunction and consultation with the assigned Litigation Examiner; modify as needed throughout process.
  • Prepare pleadings, argue motions, represent the Company in litigation hearings, responsible for all aspects of the litigation process.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Orders entered in each assigned case and complying with all Administrative Orders.
  • Responsible for ensuring complete compliance with the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and the Florida Evidence Code and the Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration.
  • Strict compliance with the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar and the Oath of Attorney
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

What you have:

Education, Experience, and Licensing:

  • Degree from ABA-approved program required.
  • Licensed by the Florida Bar and a member in good standing required.
  • 4+ years of experience practicing in Florida required.
  • 3+ years of experience specializing in first-party property defense preferred.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

  • A thorough understanding of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure
  • A thorough understanding of the Florida Evidence Code and Florida case governing the code.
  • A thorough understanding of the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration, especially Chapter 690-123, 690-142. 690-167
  • A thorough understanding of the Title XXXVII of the Florida Statutes governing Insurance, especially Chapter 624 and Chapter 627.
  • A thorough understanding of the Rules Regulating the Florida Bar, specifically the Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Extensive knowledge of case law governing Florida insurance claims.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle and maintain daily tasks associated with the case load.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to clearly and succinctly articulate position.
  • Strong and persuasive legal writing skills and oral advocacy skills.
  • Independent ability to analyze legal issues with minimal supervision.
  • Appreciation for and commitment to delivery of high-quality legal work.
  • Drive for working collaboratively with team members.
  • Personal integrity and adherence to a high degree of professionalism and ethical competency.
  • Strong research skills and negotiation skills.
