About the team and role

US Legal Team

The US Legal team at GBG supports the company’s identity and fraud solutions by providing strategic legal guidance, managing contracts, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Operating within a global legal framework, the team partners closely with commercial and product stakeholders to deliver practical, customer-focused legal support that enables business growth while mitigating risk.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic legal leader to serve as Head of Legal, US, a newly created role that will oversee our US Legal team and shape GBG’s US legal and regulatory strategy. This role will also provide matrix leadership to our Privacy and Information Security teams across the region, ensuring that legal guidance is cohesive, customer-focused, and aligned with GBG’s broader risk framework. As a key business partner to both the US Chief Revenue Officer and the Managing Director of Identity Fraud, this role will play a critical part in enabling commercial success while safeguarding compliance and operational integrity.

What you will do

  • Design and lead a best-in-class contracting process that accelerates customer onboarding while effectively mitigating legal and commercial risk.
  • Manage and mentor the GBG Americas Legal team, driving the development and execution of our US legal and regulatory strategy in alignment with global business goals.
  • Lead negotiations for complex SaaS agreements with some of the world’s most recognized enterprise brands, ensuring favorable outcomes and long-term partnerships.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on new product launches, market expansion initiatives, and emerging customer segments, enabling innovation while safeguarding compliance.
  • Monitor, interpret, and implement US regulatory developments impacting GBG and our core markets, including digital identity, AML, financial services, and gaming—and advocate for GBG’s interests where appropriate.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Americas Senior Leadership Team, offering expert guidance on legal, privacy, regulatory, and cybersecurity matters.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration by ensuring the Legal, Privacy, and Information Security teams deliver unified, business-aligned advice that supports customer success and operational excellence.

Requirements

Skills we are looking for

  • A results-driven leadership style with a proven ability to motivate teams and drive high performance in fast-paced, complex environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate legal and regulatory risks into clear, actionable guidance aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
  • A strong track record as a senior in-house attorney, with demonstrated success in leading legal teams and influencing executive decision-making.
  • Extensive experience negotiating high-value, complex commercial and SaaS contracts at pace, with a focus on balancing risk and business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to streamline and optimize contracting processes, improving efficiency and customer experience.
  • Deep understanding of cross-functional collaboration, particularly with sales, product, technology, and finance teams, and experience operating in global or matrixed environments.
  • Solid knowledge of US state privacy regulations, with experience implementing compliance frameworks.
  • Experience advocating for and implementing legislative and regulatory changes, including in emerging or highly regulated sectors.
  • Exposure to litigation management, with the ability to assess risk and guide resolution strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Subject matter expertise in digital identity, AML, financial services, or gaming regulations.
