Position Purpose

We are looking to build and expand our immigration court practice group and are looking for a proactive and hardworking bilingual (English and Spanish) attorney to help lead that growth and be a strong advocate for our clients!

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 2-3 years of direct experience appearing in and representing clients in any immigrations courts in the USA who will support their appearance work by also reviewing and editing immigration court filings, drafting pleadings, evidence packets, reviewing applications, and supporting clients in evidence collection.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

  • Draft and file motions, briefs, pleadings, applications, evidence and other court-related documents
  • Provide court appearances
  • Help prepare clients for hearings
  • Review client intakes and determine court strategies
  • Appear for master and individual calendar hearings
  • Oversee communication with clients regarding cases
  • Provide strategic insight and additional thoughts on case process

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Experience appearing before and filing with US Immigration Court system - including ECAS – and with EOIR rules for formatting and filing
  • Experience drafting pleadings, brief and motions for use in immigration court proceedings, including asylum applications, EOIR 42B applications, application for cancellation of removal, motions for prosecutorial discretion, to reopen, to terminate proceedings, to reconsider, to reopen in absentia orders, and various pre-trial motions (continue, change venue, substitute or withdraw counsel, accept untimely filing, stay removal or deportation, etc.)
  • Experience interacting with governmental agencies and court clerks
  • Knowledge of immigration procedures and processes – experience with humanitarian and family-based visas a plus
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Advocacy-focused approach to representation of clients
  • Excitement for change and growth
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing of a state bar
