Associate Attorney - Corporate (Commodities & Derivatives Regulation and Enforcement)

Location: New York, NY

 

Our client, a prestigious AmLaw 50 firm, is seeking a talented Associate Attorney to join their dynamic Commodities and Derivatives Regulation and Enforcement practice in their New York office. This role offers the opportunity to advise top-tier financial institutions, asset managers, and cutting-edge FinTech companies on complex regulatory and transactional matters in a fast-evolving legal landscape as a 4th-6th year associate.

 

Candidate Profile:
  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.

  • Active Bar Admission in New York.

  • 3+ years of substantive experience in commodities, futures, and derivatives law, including regulatory and transactional matters.

  • Experience advising clients on CFTC, SEC, and Dodd-Frank regulations, as well as negotiating and documenting a wide range of derivatives transactions.

  • Familiarity with products such as interest rate swaps, foreign exchange contracts, credit derivatives, and commodity-linked instruments.

  • Exposure to or interest in FinTech, digital assets, and cryptocurrency trading platforms is a plus.

  • Excellent communication, legal research, and drafting skills, with the ability to offer practical, business-forward legal advice.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise investment managers, financial institutions, and emerging companies on regulatory requirements under the Commodity Exchange Act, the Securities Exchange Act, and other key financial regulatory regimes.

  • Assist in the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of derivatives transactions across various asset classes.

  • Monitor and interpret developments in CFTC, SEC, and other domestic and international regulatory frameworks.

  • Support enforcement and compliance matters, including internal investigations and interactions with regulators.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive legal solutions on cutting-edge financial products and emerging technologies.
