Essential Job Duties:
Legal Assistants perform a variety of complex and diverse office, clerical and secretarial support functions requiring independent judgment, to facilitate the effective operations of the department.
The position works under limited direction, prepares court documents, pleadings, reports and correspondence and coordinates collection and distribution of paperwork.
The position facilitates office workload by coordinating schedules with clients and the courts relating to assigned caseload.

Supervisor: Chief of Staff
Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Pay Range: $21.89 - $33.17. (MCBA 109.0)
Hiring rate depends on qualifications. This position receives annual pay increases to the next step in the associated salary range (apx. 3.8%) subject to satisfactory performance, in addition to any negotiated Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA).We are required by State Law to list the full salary range. As a public entity and in a union-covered position, we are required to make pay decisions based on experience, qualifications, and equity with other employees. Hiring rate typically is limited to entry to mid of the posted salary range, subject to required approvals.- Qualifications
Two years experience in a law office, criminal justice system or a related field OR an associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field OR a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
Experience working in the criminal justice system and with people in crisis is desired.
Depending upon area of assignment, may be required to:
Become a Notary Public and maintain throughout employment.
Background check must meet County criteria.
