Description
Sales/Intake Attorney – Criminal Defense | Michael & Associates, California
Michael & Associates is reshaping the future of criminal defense in California. Building on our extraordinary success in Texas, we’re bringing our proven model of innovation, efficiency, and premium client service to the West Coast. Our mission is bold yet clear: within three years, we aim to become the nation’s largest and most effective criminal defense firm, all while fostering a culture where attorneys excel both personally and professionally and every client receives exceptional, white-glove representation.
Who We AreWe’re not your typical defense firm. We combine legal expertise with the operational excellence of leading tech companies — using advanced digital marketing, streamlined processes, and data-driven systems to deliver a premium, white-glove client experience.
This approach has already made us one of the largest defense firms in Texas, and now we’re expanding into California with the same mission: to redefine criminal defense.
About the RoleAs a Sales/Intake Attorney, you’ll be the first point of contact for individuals seeking legal help. You’ll speak with clients facing serious criminal charges, listen to their stories, and clearly explain how Michael & Associates can protect their rights and their future.
This isn’t a cold-calling position — every person you speak with is a qualified lead actively seeking representation. Your role is to earn their trust, communicate our firm’s value, and guide them toward retaining our services.

1. Be Part of a Fast-Growing Firm
You’ll be joining our California launch team — the ground floor of a national expansion. Help build something new and be part of a firm that’s scaling fast.
2. Career Growth and Advancement
Criminal defense rarely offers real growth paths. We’re changing that by building a firm where talented attorneys can advance, lead teams, and develop their careers long-term.
3. Forward-Thinking Culture
We embrace technology, automation, and continuous improvement — freeing our attorneys to focus on clients, not busywork.
4. Team Collaboration
No lone wolves here. Every client benefits from the expertise of the entire firm. You’ll work alongside highly skilled attorneys who share your passion for excellence.
5. Make a Real Difference
Every day, you’ll help people through one of the most stressful times in their lives — providing hope, clarity, and first-rate representation. Our reviews speak for themselves: we fight hard and care deeply.
Requirements
- You Enjoy Doing Consults and Have Experience Selling to New Clients
You’ll be on the phone a lot — every single day — speaking with potential clients who need help. If you don’t absolutely love engaging with people, listening to their stories, and guiding them toward the best legal solution, this isn’t the right fit. But if you thrive on meaningful conversations and helping clients take that next step toward peace of mind, you’ll excel here. - Strong Phone Sales Skills
It’s not just about talking — it’s about connecting. You should be friendly, empathetic, and professional, but also confident, knowledgeable about the law, and capable of handling any questions or concerns potential clients may raise. Prior experience in phone-based sales or client consultations is a major plus. - Appropriate License
You must have one of the following: - An active California Bar license, or a clear plan to obtain one; or
- An active Bar license from another state for 5+ years, which can streamline admission to the California Bar; or
- A Bar license from a state that has reciprocity with California (if applicable).
- You Love Being on the Phone — Seriously
We can’t emphasize this enough: this role is all about connecting with clients over the phone. If talking with people energizes you and you find satisfaction in helping them during one of the most stressful times in their lives, you’ll love this job. If not, this probably isn’t your ideal fit.
