Reporting to the Assistant Director of Legal and Compliance, they’ll take ownership of contract review and management with a strong focus on vendor oversight and the evaluation of cybersecurity and information security risks. In this role, the individual will partner across the organization to ensure agreements and vendor relationships align with legal, regulatory, and security standards. They’ll also contribute expertise through regulatory and legal research and support essential filings for HAI Group’s companies. This role will work both independently and as part of a team for projects related to contract review, vendor management, legal and state-by-state research, regulatory changes, filings, and audits.

Essential Functions- Take ownership of the contract review process, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating terms, leveraging HAI Group’s contract library to identify and mitigate organizational risks associated with contractual engagements and third-party relationships.
- Lead vendor management through analysis of vendor performance, contractual obligations, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and information security risks.
- Manage vendor and contract administration databases and related workflow systems.
- Conduct legal and compliance research to support legal and regulatory initiatives, risk mitigation, and informed decision-making.
- Support preparation of regulatory filings for HAI Group’s companies.
- Taken ownership of process for reviewing, interpreting and disseminating a broad range of regulatory updates, ensuring accurate and consistent application across business operations.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for inquiries from regulatory bodies and internal departments, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Stay current on laws and regulations through review of publications and industry literature.
- Perform other compliance or legal tasks as directed by the Assistant Director of Legal and Compliance.
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctor from ABA-accredited institution with bar admission in good standing
- 3+ years of experience in comparable position, preferably with an insurance or financial services company.
- Experience and expertise in contract review, drafting, negotiation, and lifecycle management, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate legal, regulatory, information security, and operational risk.
- Experience managing regulatory communications and coordinating timely, accurate filings and responses to insurance regulators and other oversight bodies.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of third-party and vendor risk management, including vendor due diligence, ongoing oversight, and contract controls related to cybersecurity, information security, data privacy, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
- Knowledge of insurance compliance programs, filing obligations, internal controls, and governance structures designed to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex laws, regulations, and guidance, translating regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities in order to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail combined with strong time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with ability to leverage tools for efficiency and accuracy.
- Proven project management expertise, ensuring timely and successful completion of initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear and professional interactions.
- Ability to identify external and internal factors impacting legal and regulatory requirements.
- Analytical and solutions-driven problem solver, capable of independently interpreting regulatory changes and developing related solutions.
