Currently, we have an immediate opening for a Corporate Attorney to join our team! The Corporate Attorney provides advisory legal counsel to ensure the credit union operates within the bounds of applicable laws and regulations. This role covers a broad range of legal functions including governance, regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, litigation administration, and support for strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong legal acumen, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach to support the credit union’s mission, values, and strategic goals.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advising leadership on corporate governance matters.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of legal agreements such as vendor contracts, technology licenses, service agreements, real estate leases, and strategic partnership documents, ensuring alignment with organizational risk tolerance.
  • Interpreting and applying federal and state regulations relevant to credit unions while partnering with all stakeholders to manage risk.
  • Supporting the credit union’s actions in relations to legal disputes, pre-litigation matters, subpoenas, regulatory inquiries, and member complaints.
  • Coordinating with external counsel to ensure effective representation and cost control.
  • Designing and delivering training and guidance on contract risk management and legal best practices across all Credit Union operations.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing with the State Bar of the state in which they reside.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably with a credit union, financial institution, or in-house legal department.
  • Strong knowledge of financial services law, credit union regulations, and corporate governance.
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters, contracts, and external counsel relationships.
  • All candidates must be bondable and maintain bondable status throughout employment in accordance with credit union regulatory requirements.
