
The Motion Picture Association, Inc. (MPA) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to provide comprehensive legal support to the Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Content Protection Legal Affairs (SVP), as well as other legal team members. This role will primarily focus on supporting intermediary initiatives, litigation support, and various special projects for a team of approximately four to five attorneys. The ideal candidate will possess strong research, writing, and communication skills and have a proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal strategies related to online intermediary liability and copyright enforcement.
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case law related to online platforms and intermediaries.
- Prepare and organize legal documents, including memoranda, briefs, and presentations.
- Track and monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to intermediary liability.
- Assist in all phases of litigation, including discovery, document review, and trial preparation.
- Organize and manage case files, including electronic and physical documents.
- Draft and assist in preparing legal correspondence, pleadings, and motions.
- Assist with the preparation of witnesses and exhibits for depositions and trials.
- Provide support for various special projects as assigned by the SVP and Association General Counsel, and other team members.
- Assist in the preparation of legal reports and presentations.
- Manage and organize legal databases and resources.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, conferences, and travel arrangements.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed.
- Assist attorneys with contract review and management.
- Maintain and organize legal files and records.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Other projects as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm.
- Knowledge of copyright law and/or online intermediary liability is a plus.

- Strong understanding of litigation procedures and legal terminology.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with document management software.
- Knowledge of copyright law and/or online intermediary liability is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- $75,000 - $70,000/year
