Job Summary:
The paralegal will be a primary support to our General Counsel. The main responsibilities will be drafting legal pleadings, managing e-filings, and monitoring litigation statuses along with other administrative duties as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare all legal pleadings and documents for a high volume collections pipeline
- Review bankruptcy dockets and prepare bankruptcy pleadings for defaulted dealers
- Prepare responses to subpoenas received by the Company
- Review and proofread all documents created, check for proper formatting, spelling and grammatical errors, as well as ensuring that all attachments, exhibits, or enclosures are intact before distribution
- Assist General Counsel with various legal agreements and correspondence needed to support the business
- Track and manage numerous deadlines related the Company's e-filings
- Prepare settlement agreements
- Track litigation statues, collections, and prepare reports
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Associates or Paralegal Certificate required
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 3-5 years’ experience drafting legal pleadings required
- Solid understanding of the legal process with considerable knowledge of legal terminology regarding litigation documents and litigation procedures
- Understanding of State and Federal court rules and procedures along with e-filing processes
- Experience utilizing Pacer, TylerHost, and Odyssey required
- Experience utilizing Sharepoint required
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Floorplan experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to communicate clearly
- Ability to operate computer and office equipment, maintain paper files, move about an office environment
- Must be able to move objects up to 20 pounds
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
