Legal AssistantThe La Paz County Attorney’s Office seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our attorneys throughout all phases of the litigation process. Under the general supervision of the Office Manager and direct supervision of the Legal Assistant Manager, this position involves preparing and managing a variety of legal documents, gathering case information, maintaining case management systems, and assisting with trial and court preparation. The Legal Assistant will act as a vital liaison among attorneys, law enforcement agencies, courts, and members of the public, ensuring the smooth operation of legal proceedings. - Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and demonstrates exceptional organizational skills. They are comfortable handling sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and possess a keen eye for detail, particularly when reviewing and redacting documents, audio, and video materials. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the Legal Assistant will interact regularly with attorneys, law enforcement officers, court personnel, and the public—sometimes under pressing deadlines. The ideal candidate is proactive in managing attorney calendars, coordinating interviews, and responding to defense information and requests. Prior experience in a criminal justice agency, law office, or court setting is highly valued.
- Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Certification required
- Experience with legal documentation and databases preferred
- Knowledge of legal system workflow preferred
- Must successfully pass a background investigation
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment
