The Billing Supervisor is an integral part of Latham’s Office Accounting team. This role will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Billing team within the assigned office and ensuring compliance with firm policies and procedures, while training, coaching, and leading Billing staff in their professional development. This role will be located in our San Diego office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the Accounting Manager or Billing Manager in the performance evaluation of departmental employees and the development of performance improvement recommendations
- Ensuring departmental goals and objectives are met by providing accurate and timely completion of assignments and responses to inquiries
- Coordinating and overseeing the completion of annual and monthly activities, including quarterly inventory campaigns, year‑end collections and inventory management, e‑billing coordination, and other high‑priority, time‑sensitive initiatives
- Promoting the “Gold Standard” inventory process by managing billing completion percentages to ensure timely billing, monitoring related reports, facilitating monthly inventory meetings with billing attorneys, and overseeing collections support and accounts receivable follow‑up
- Participating in routine calls and conferences with partners and management regarding financial inventory
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

- Demonstrate the ability to lead and manage change initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives
And have:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA), preferably
- A minimum of nine (9) years of increasingly complex accounting experience, including a minimum of four (4) years of law firm billing processes and practices
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a law firm supervisory capacity
