
The role of Counsel, Legal is a full-time attorney position within Asurion’s Legal Team and has responsibility for matters relating to our partner contracts, compliance, litigation, and corporate and regulatory related matters. This role requires facilitating discussions designed to consistently provide cross-functional communication and guidance for activities requiring legal support.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong time- and project-management and prioritization skills, and prior corporate legal experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/DUTIES:
- Negotiates and drafts client partner agreements.
- Manages all required franchise disclosures and compliance issues.
- Negotiates and drafts franchise agreements, area development agreements and national account participation agreements with franchisees.
- Manages litigation and mitigates risk exposure for disputes.
- Works to support internal client needs and to act as a liaison; brokers creative solutions for relevant stakeholders.
- Develops a thorough understanding of Asurion business, processes and goals to provide innovative legal solutions that solve unique or challenging problems.
- Establishes strong collaborative relationships with cross functional teams, including legal, underwriting, finance, tax, treasury, comp, and client services.
- Exhibits strong drafting, negotiating, collaboration and communication skills.
- Demonstrates good analytical skills and judgment to evaluate factual and qualitative information in complicated or novel situations.
- Acts as a trusted advisor and leader to drive results and complete projects as needed.
- Actively seeks operational understanding and implications of initiatives and implements process improvements to streamline support and complete successful transactions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the bar in Tennessee and/or Florida bar
- 6-8+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in franchise law in-house or with a law firm
