We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in New York and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As a Paralegal, you will support attorneys and compliance professionals in the Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA) and Guy Carpenter US Legal & Compliance teams with support around legal and compliance tasks and processes. The role requires interaction not only with in-house attorneys and compliance professionals, but also co-ordination with business units and key stakeholders, including those outside Marsh McLennan.
We will count on you to:
- Coordinate and assist with due diligence and post-transaction activities for mergers and acquisitions, and other business transactions
- Support the LCPA team to prepare presentations, reports, legal analytics and communications
- Collaborate with other members of LCPA teams globally to create, update and maintain template agreements and implement process development
- Review, draft, and manage a wide variety of legal documents under direction of an LCPA attorney to assist in processes including (but not limited to) NDAs, subpoenas, document retention and collation, regulatory inquiries, external counsel work product
- Assist LCPA attorney with regulatory compliance monitoring and reporting to ensure adherence to applicable laws and corporate policies
- Manage access to technology used for Legal & Compliance purposes on iManage, Sharepoint, Teams and other relevant platforms
- Manage internal reporting processes (tracking and collating information, reminding deadlines)
- Advise colleagues on the correct forms and templates to use and point colleagues toward relevant LCPA resources on rules and procedures
- Assist with preparing training materials and scheduling training
- Support the wider LCPA team with internal projects and various commercial and compliance matters
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 2 to 3 years of experience preferably with a good mix of legal and compliance work at a law firm or in-house legal department, with exposure to corporate processes
- Strong technical and project management skills
- Excellent drafting and editing skills
- Excellent data management, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage expectations well
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Effectively able to prioritize work by understanding competing demands and making appropriate judgments regarding relative importance and priority
- Able to take initiative, is proactive and confidently able to take ownership of matters and develop self
