Job Responsibilities: What you will do

Serves as chief legal advisor, establishing and directing legal strategy for organization that ensures maximum legal protection and advancement of business interests. Provide executives and senior leadership counsel related to legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Oversee legal department ensuring appropriate staffing levels and operating within budget constraints.
  • Ensure assigned employees have career development plans.
  • Ensure that business practices, policies and dealings of the organization meet regulatory requirements to protect the organization from legal action.
  • Balance business needs and corporate goals within the appropriate legal framework.
  • Lead the defense of the organization in lawsuits and the prosecution of lawsuits on behalf of the organization against others. Includes assignment and oversight of outside counsel to such matters and the interpretation and preparation of legal documents related to these and other actions.
  • Maintain status as informed industry-specific subject matter expert, providing advice to executives and senior leadership regarding relevant legislative, administrative, regulatory, compliance and risk management developments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the business and create a competitive advantage. Leverage expertise, technology or other tools to maintain best practices.
  • Provide strategic oversight of class action and commercial litigation.
  • Manage litigation through completion and consult with relevant leadership to resolve issues and decide settlements.
  • Lead and direct the legal teams across KNX's matrixed organization
  • Ensure execution of goals, development of employees, establishment of processes and standards, adherence to budgets and related daily departmental operations.
  • Serve as Corporate Secretary, ensuring the integrity of governance framework, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and implementation of decisions made by the Board of Directors.
  • Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring
  • 10+ years of private practice or corporate counsel experience required.
  • SEC and M&A transactional experience required.
  • 5+ years experience leading people required.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree with superior academic records required.
  • Member of the Arizona Bar preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate effectively with business stakeholders, executive management and board members.
  • Must be able to negotiate, persuade and influence others throughout the organization.
  • Must have proven ability to coach and guide others.
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity.
  • Must be able to maintain effective professional skepticism.
