Location: Downtown Springfield, MA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (Starting at 25 hours/week)

Meghan McCarthy Law, LLC is seeking a dedicated, organized, and detail oriented Paralegal to join a growing solo law practice. The firm focuses on Juvenile Law (Delinquency and Care & Protection) and Family Law, and is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality legal representation to clients throughout Springfield, Massachusetts and surrounding communities in Western Massachusetts.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced legal environment, is highly organized, and can manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. The successful candidate will work closely with the attorney and play an essential role in the day-to-day operation of the practice.
Hiring Timeline
The attorney is currently on maternity leave. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a start date of mid-October 2026.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research to assist with case preparation and litigation strategy.
- Draft and proofread pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
- Prepare case materials for court hearings, trials, and client meetings.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
- Manage client intake and maintain accurate records in the firm's case management system.
- Perform data entry and document management with a high degree of accuracy.
- Assist with scheduling, calendar management, and other administrative tasks.
- Support the attorney in all aspects of case management.
- Assist attorney at court.
Required Qualifications
MUST HAVE: Paralegal degree or certificate.
- Minimum of one year of experience working in the legal field.
- Strong legal drafting and proofreading skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a busy practice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the attorney.
References will be requested following the interview process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Family Law and/or Juvenile Law.
- Experience preparing court filings and managing litigation deadlines.
- Familiarity with Massachusetts Trial Court procedures and electronic filing systems.
