Job Description

Edwards Estate & Elder Law is now seeking a legal support professional with ambition to move up in their career. This position reports directly to the Senior Paralegal and is an hourly paid position. Work hours are 9AM to 5:30PM Monday through Friday. Upon eligibility, benefits are offered to include medical, dental, vision, life insurance and retirement plan [401k Plan]. The Legal Assistant provides crucial administrative and clerical support to attorneys and paralegals, enabling efficient law firm operations. Key duties include assisting in drafting legal documents, managing attorney calendars, scheduling meetings with clients, conducting legal research, maintaining client files, and communicating with clients, courts, and managing the Firm's Client Relationship Management (CRM) Clio Software System used to manage all client matters.

Key Responsabilités & Duties

  • Document Preparation: Drafting, proofreading, and editing legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and motions.
  • Case Management: Organizing and maintaining digital and physical client files, managing case deadlines, and coordinating discovery. Serving as Subject Matter Expert with the Firm's CRM.
  • Communication: Acting as a liaison between attorneys, clients, and court staff.
  • Administrative Tasks: Answering phones, billing/time entry, and managing office correspondence.
  • Legal Research: Conducting basic research to assist in case preparation.
  • Leading Legal Team Meeting: Creating agendas and organizing meetings. Run reports to presents information at the bi-weekly meetings. Reports include 1) identifying the current number of tasks and flag areas where follow-up may be needed and 2) presenting Pending/Open Matters to the team for weekly review.
  • Legal Team Suppoprt: Assist legal team with case-related and administrative tasks and acting as liaison between legal department and administrative department. Reach out to companies or service providers on behalf of clients to request records or information that helps move cases forward.
  • Billing and Accounting: Assisting with time tracking, preparing and sending invoices, and resolving client billing issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in document preparation and proofreading.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), document management systems, and e-filing procedures.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage strict deadlines.
  • Notary: Provide notary and signing support with regards to client matters when needed. Serving as a witness during Estate Planning signings.
  • Organization and Detail: Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with high precision in filing and document handling.
  • Confidentiality: Maintaining discretion in handling sensitive client and case information.
  • Presentation Skills: The ideal candidate must be able to present during team meetings and be ready to answer questions in relation to the subject matter.

Education and Experience While some employers may require an associate degree or a certificate in paralegal studies, we may accept equivalent experience in an administrative role.

Salary
  • $22 - $25/hour
