Job Summary


We are seeking a Litigation Assistant to support attorneys and paralegals by handling essential case tasks, allowing them to focus on high-level legal work. This full-time, in-office role in Houston, TX requires a proactive, detail-oriented team member who can anticipate needs and help keep cases moving efficiently. Responsibilities include managing case files, maintaining client communication, assisting with medical records and litigation support, and ensuring all data and deadlines are accurately tracked in the firm’s case management system. Success in this role directly supports attorney productivity, case velocity, and client experience — and offers strong opportunities for long-term career growth within the firm.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain regular client communication in accordance with firm guidelines.
  • Return client calls promptly following firm service standards.
  • Conduct client exit surveys and assist in generating positive client reviews.
  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with file setup, organization, and document management.
  • Ensure all case data is accurate and up to date in case management systems.
  • Manage correspondence, including mailing, emailing, scanning, and filing documents.
  • Perform clerical duties such as copying, redacting, and organizing records.
  • Assist in preparing materials for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Monitor litigation calendars and verify deadlines are properly entered and tracked.
  • Assist with discovery processes, including Discovery Written Questions (DWQs) and follow-ups.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
  • Verify and update medical expenses and balances in case management systems.
  • Assist in collecting and organizing medical records, bills, and liens.
  • Assist in lien resolution and medical provider communications.
  • Support verification of balances prior to mediation or trial.

Required Experience


  • High school diploma required; some college experience preferred.
  • 1–4 years of experience within a plaintiff's personal injury firm.
  • Prior litigation experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with Filevine or similar case management software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
