Job Description

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Contracts Advisor to support the day-to-day administration of engineering, construction, procurement and supply contracts related to our LNG export and pipeline projects.  Reporting to the General Counsel and working under the supervision of the Senior Lead Contracts Advisor, this individual will participate in a multi-disciplinary team that provides contracts oversight, implementation and support and, as necessary, assist other members of the Company’s Legal Department in relation to such matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure strict discipline to contractual requirements for administration, claims and change orders. Work closely with the relevant project stakeholders to finalize change order documentation.
  • Support Commercial Manager and Legal Department during the entire life cycle of contracts from limited notice to proceed to final completion.  Monitor contract deadlines and deliverables.
  • Manage, analyze, prepare and log all contract-related correspondence and notices with the EPC contractors, suppliers and subcontractors and monitor compliance with contracts.
  • Liaise with Corporate support functions such as Finance/Accounting, Procurement and Project Controls.
  • Liaise with technical disciplines such as Engineering, Quality Control, HSSE, and Project Management.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater; a law degree is not required for this position.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract administration with a sponsor, construction company or supplier, preferably in the energy sector.
  • Detailed knowledge of EPC contract agreements, legal requirements involved in contracts, compensation methods, invoicing and change order processes required.
  • Able to effectively communicate across various disciplines and with contract counterparties.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to spot issues and risks and escalate when appropriate.
  • Excellent writing skills, including drafting of basic legal documents.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage commercially sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with business team members and take direction in a fast-paced and dynamic multi-project business environment.
