What you need to be successful:
- Juris Doctorate degree earned from an accredited institution.
- 2+ years of related experience as an attorney.
- Must have admission to the Bar and be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. State or the District of Columbia.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance.
- Able to do periodic travel, up to 10% for investigations and training.

This Staff Attorney role at Bell will be responsible for providing support to the Deputy General Counsel accountable for Bell’s Ethics & Compliance (E&C) function and for generally assisting with providing legal and compliance guidance to Bell’s operations and global locations through variety of tasks and responsibilities.
What you’ll be doing as a Staff Attorney:
- Provide legal guidance on a variety of Ethics and Compliance related issues and policies.
- Understand areas of legal compliance risk and appropriate mitigation measures for a variety of topics, such as global anti-corruption compliance (GACC), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA); U.S. anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, records retention and data protection compliance (largely focusing on EU and Canada legal issues), e-communication laws, and conflicts of interest.
- Work with legal team to advise business units on international gift, hospitality, and charitable donation requests by reviewing the controlling international law(s) and Bell company policies to render advice on the permissibility and manner to fulfill such requests.
- Perform due diligence reviews for Bell Covered Business Partners to assess legal risk of current and potential business partners, focusing on GACC and AML issues as well as assist with intake, preparation and implementation of domestic consultant contracts and compliance-related certifications and books and records.
- Review Know Your Customer (KYC) information and work with finance to review all Commercial helicopter payments and transactions for compliance.
- Conduct investigations pertaining to potential violations of Company policy and applicable laws, and assist with and support ethics investigations raised through the Textron Help-Line and other reporting channels.
- Provide guidance and support on anti-corruption compliance and E&C audits, specifically concerning GACC audits and provide support to address any observations or results as well as support overall E&C training initiatives, including onboarding, annual e-learning modules (CRCs) and periodic live training to employees on a variety of E&C related topics.
- Participate in Quarterly Steering Committee to accurately brief the Bell Executive Team on the recent E&C news within the company as well as partner with liaisons at sites across the globe regarding Ethics and Compliance issues, trends and actions.
- Play key role in Bell’s Annual Compliance Risk-Assessment and Action to report up to Textron Inc., quantifying the various legal risks Bell expects to encounter in the given year and an Action Plan to address and mitigate the risks identified.
- Research, identify and analyze changes to U.S. and foreign anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, privacy and other compliance related laws to determine impact to Bell policies, practices and procedures.
- As assigned, support other attorneys and subject matter experts within the legal team as well as assist with other special projects which may be necessary for the support of Bell’s business.
