Job Description

The HR and Office Operations Manager is responsible for leading and executing key human resources functions including benefits administration, payroll, recruitment, onboarding, time and attendance, and employee relations. The role also oversees general office management and provides administrative supervision to legal secretaries and HR staff. This position ensures the smooth operation of all HR and office functions under the direction of the COO and in coordination with the General Counsel.

Core Responsibilities

Human Resources & Benefits Administration

  • Manage firm-wide employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), life/disability insurance, COBRA, and wellness programs

  • Coordinate open enrollment, benefits communication, audits, and vendor relationships

  • Ensure compliance with benefits-related laws and internal policies

Payroll & Timekeeping

  • Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing, tax compliance, and related reporting

  • Manage time and attendance tracking, leave of absence administration, and deductions

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment including job postings, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding

  • Ensure new employees are fully integrated and enrolled in applicable benefit programs

Employee Relations

  • Advise managers and staff on employee relations issues and conflict resolution

  • Promote a positive and compliant workplace culture

Office & Staff Management

  • Supervise legal secretaries and office support staff, overseeing workflows and performance

  • Manage daily office operations to ensure efficiency

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure adherence to all employment laws and HR regulations

  • Generate HR and payroll reports for senior leadership

Additional Duties

  • Support the COO and General Counsel on strategic HR initiatives and administrative projects



Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related field

  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience with strong generalist background

  • Expertise in benefits, payroll (ADP), recruitment, and compliance

  • Experience supervising HR and legal support personnel

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state labor laws

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems
