And we're looking for a Senior Intellectual Property Attorney!

About the position:

The IP Attorney will provide expert legal counsel on complex intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark strategy, portfolio management, licensing, enforcement, and risk migration.  This role also supports IP-related transactions, manages external counsel, and contributes to shaping the organization’s overall innovation and IP strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prosecute complex patent applications
  • Review and respond to Office Actions from patent offices worldwide, including US, EPO, China, Japan, South Korea and India
  • Partner with internal teams (R&D, product development, marketing, regulatory, etc.) to identify protectable innovations and align IP strategy with business goals
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate (FTO) patentability, validity, and infringement analyses, and advise on associated risks and strategies
  • Monitor competitive IP landscapes and advise on potential infringement or third-party risks
  • Support IP litigation, enforcement, and dispute resolution activities in collaboration with internal and external legal teams
  • Educate and advise internal stakeholders on IP policies, procedures, and best practices

Qualifications

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Undergraduate degree in science or engineering

Experience

  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Registration to practice before at least one state bar
  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience in intellectual property law
  • Strong technical background in electrical engineering or computer science
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Preferences

  • Advanced degree in a technical field (e.g., M.S. or Ph.D in electrical engineering or computer science)
  • Trademark expertise
  • Both law firm and in-house experience

Salary Range Disclosure: The annual base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $230,000, not including any variable pay. The total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other variable pay components. The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
