This position is in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Department of Technology Services, Enterprise Operations Center, Infrastructure Operations Division, Infrastructure Operations Branch. The EOC is a customer-focused, central point of contact for internal and external users of the Judiciary's nationally deployed information technology (IT) services and operates and monitors the Judiciary's national IT infrastructure.
Duties The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Enterprise Operations Center, Infrastructure Operations Branch is seeking an experienced Information Technology Specialist (Network Services) to join its team.
The Information Technology Specialist (Network Services) is responsible for the design, implementation, modification, and maintenance of complex technical environments, networks, and systems. The incumbent provides network infrastructure engineering support services, including installing and configuring network equipment, monitoring network infrastructure health, managing patches, and supporting connectivity to other networks and facilities. The Information Technology Specialist (Network Services) oversees and develops creative solutions for the efficient use of the bandwidth and network performance at the 570+ court locations. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills and strong experience with networking configuration within data center, local area network (LAN), and wide area network (WAN) environments.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Developing a program to proactively monitor bandwidth.
- Preparing bandwidth assessments of court WAN circuits upon request.
- Preparing order instructions for WAN circuits, equipment, and services.
- Configuring WAN and LAN (hardware, software).
- Documenting network diagrams, infrastructure, IP addressing schemes, routing, security policies, and load sharing.
- Developing and documenting network provisioning requirements and policies.
- Providing capacity planning assistance to develop network resource requirements projections.
- Supporting core Internet protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, QoS, etc.).
- Installing and configuring Cisco 8K series routers.
- Managing IP address allocated subnets and the evolution to the new addressing policy for the enterprise architecture.
- Providing operations and maintenance support and troubleshooting of any network-related issues covering the entire enterprise (LAN/WAN/Data Center, Internet/TIC, etc.).
- Supporting quality of service, multicast, and content delivery network monitoring.
- Developing and documenting requirements and policies for network monitoring and problem management.
- Providing guidance for network operation implementation and support processes and procedures.
- Providing tier 3 support.
- Identifying and resolving network problems and in accordance incident and problem management services, policies, procedures.
- Coordinating resolution of circuit problems with third parties, including public carriers, ISP, and external vendors.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:
- Experience with Cisco Routing and Switching including knowledge of MultiCast, QoS, IOS Security, and content delivery; and
- LAN/WAN experience.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus 5K, 7K, and 9K. Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) is preferred;
- Hands-on experience with Cisco DMPVPN and IPSEC;
