Looking for an attorney with 4+ years of capital markets/derivatives/corporate experience who is interested in leveraging their skills and developing an expertise in algorithmic/index work. Attorney will work with a core group of 7 highly experienced investment banking attorneys who provide legal coverage for the development of investment strategies/indices and structured products.
Investment Strategies/Indices: The ideal candidate will be ready to launch themselves into the legal side of “high finance”. There are currently 3 attorneys who assist the investment bank in the development of cross-asset (equities, commodities, rates, FX and credit) investment strategies. Candidate will also work closely with their legal counterparts in London and Hong Kong who provide similar coverage for Europe and Asia. Candidate will have the opportunity to learn about and master the legal aspects of strategy development. In turn, candidate will leverage their skills in capital markets/corporate to bring the strategies “to market” through security offerings, OTC trades and other investment opportunities.
Structured Products: Candidate will also be responsible for assisting in a high volume and fast paced deal flow environment. Currently overseen by 4 other attorneys, candidate with learn the various issuances platforms which serve as the foundation for +10,000 deals annually. Candidate will gain expertise in the capital markets aspects of “complex” and “exotic” products and provide support to the Investment Bank’s Structured Products trading desk.
Additionally, candidate will work closely with interrelated disciplines including tax, bank regulatory, marketing, intellectual property, insurance, data & tech and compliance. Last, the right candidate will be versatile; this role is for an attorney who can pivot on a day-to-day basis to address routine as well as novel issues facing an ever-expanding business.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate from accredited law school and bar admission in New York.
- Prior experience at a firm in capital markets/securities transactions or corporate field.
- Reasonable comfort with mathematical and financial concepts and complex equations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and multiple assignments and clients.
- Knowledge of Securities Act of 1933, Securities Exchange Act of 1934, Investment Company Act of 1940 helpful.
