The ideal candidate for our Corporate Counsel will be responsible for providing legal assistance and counseling to the operating departments of the Company to assist those departments in achieving their goals and objectives while minimizing associated legal risks.
- Serve as a primary legal resource to business units within the Company on matters presenting legal and/or business issues. Interact directly with internal clients including members of senior management. Maintain a positive relationship with internal clients and external customers.
- Perform legal tasks in support of the Company’s designated objectives and provide legal guidance and support pertaining to a wide variety of areas such as litigation, corporate governance, field operations, real estate, HR, labor and employment matters. These tasks may include, without limitation, preparing, drafting, or reviewing contracts; assisting with or responding to governmental investigations; assisting with HR and employment matters; supporting the Company’s Field Operations in addressing legal issues as needed; and supporting, leading and recommending legal policies and practices to assure legal and/or regulatory compliance.
- Retain, supervise and assist outside legal counsel in analyzing and processing matters. Work independently or under the direction of internal counsel in developing and implementing contract and litigation strategies and defining objectives and goals for projects assigned to outside counsel. Monitor and control the expenses incurred by outside counsel. Continually monitor the quality of outside legal services.
- Provide guidance and instruction to the Legal Department’s support staff in rendering assistance to business units.
- Function as the Legal Department representative on committees or multi-departmental project teams as assigned.
- Remain current and knowledgeable regarding legislation, regulations, case law and administrative rulings (or pending legislation or administrative pronouncements) pertinent to the Company’s operations within the assigned areas of responsibility.

- JD degree from an ABA accredited law school
- A minimum of 4 years relevant legal experience
- The ability to practice law as a corporate generalist while addressing issues within assigned specific substantive legal areas which may include: consumer protection, contracts, employment and labor, environmental, safety, intellectual property, litigation, including product liability and motor vehicle accidents, mergers & acquisitions, commercial real estate, securities, and technology and software licensing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly and succinctly explain legal concepts in a non-technical manner to non-lawyers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and internet research.
- Motivated self-starter with creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
