What’s the position?

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Legal Team!  The Paralegal will report to the IP & Litigation Counsel and will primarily oversee and keep track of the subpoena response process, as well as assist with monitoring and summarizing important legal updates, preparing training materials, and  providing day-to-day support for the Legal Team.

 

As a Paralegal, you will be responsible for:

  • Being the primary point of contact and corresponding with agencies submitting subpoenas, warrants, bankruptcy notices, and other requests.

  • Cataloging all subpoenas, warrants, bankruptcy notices, and other requests, and keeping track of deadlines for responses.

  • Creating and sending responses for all subpoenas, warrants, bankruptcy notices, and other requests.

  • Coordinating notarization and signatures for certifications and affidavits accompanying subpoenas, warrants, bankruptcy notices, and other requests.

  • Ensuring all processes are followed and corresponding with related entities regarding subpoenas, warrants, bankruptcy notices, and other requests.

  • Managing and organizing all documents related to subpoenas, warrants, bankruptcy notices, and other requests.

  • Monitoring important legal cases or updates in the fields of gaming and sports betting and providing the Legal Team with comprehensive and timely summaries.

  • Being the primary point of contact and corresponding with insurers and brokers regarding coverage.

  • Being the primary point of contact with state compliance officers and corresponding with them regarding subpoenas, warrants, bankruptcy notices, other requests, legal claims, and letters before action corresponding to their respective states.

  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of processes, legal training materials, and guideline documents for other departments.

  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of litigation hold notices. 

  • Assisting with the review of intellectual property matters including portfolio management and considering marketing assets.

  • Attending calls or meetings with members of the Legal Team, taking comprehensive and detailed notes, and providing summaries thereof. 

  • Providing additional day-to-day support for the Legal Team as necessary.

Job requirements

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Paralegal certification preferred but not required.

  • Certification as a notary public highly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Experience in working collaboratively across different teams and departments.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.

  • Show high standards of conduct, ethics, and discretion.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Candidate must comply with and support all company policies, procedures, and initiatives.
