About Our Paralegal Role:
We are seeking a seasoned Paralegal to support our legal and production teams across a variety of legal functions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven media company with exposure to entertainment law, employment law, IP, and compliance.
What You’ll Do:
Draft, proofread, and format legal contracts, including agreements for talent, production, IP, licensing, brand partnerships, and employment matters.
Support the production team with rights clearance processes, ensuring consent, releases, and copyright assessments are complete.
Prepare and respond to demand letters under supervision of legal counsel, including cease and desist, contract disputes, and IP enforcement correspondence.
Assist with the preparation of legal exhibits, affidavits, and supporting documentation for transactions, disputes, and pre-litigation matters.
Conduct and compile preliminary legal research for legal counsel on content clearance, media law, copyright, trademarks, labor and employment laws, and advertising compliance.
Organize and maintain all legal files to ensure compliance and facilitate effective document management.
Assist with corporate governance, including preparing board materials and tracking meeting minutes, resolutions, and statutory filings.
Support contract administration by tracking deadlines, renewals, and obligations with talent, partners, vendors, and employees.
Support in-house counsel with employment and labor law compliance, documentation, and internal investigations.
Research, track, and help implement regulatory changes affecting employment practices, wage-hour laws, and workplace safety within the entertainment industry.
Monitor trademark and copyright registrations, deadlines, and renewals; assist with filings and portfolio management.
Monitor for trademark and copyright infringement across online platforms, social media, and e-commerce sites using vendor platforms.
Enforce the company’s IP rights by preparing and submitting takedown notices (e.g., DMCA) and tracking outcomes.
Track and report on infringement trends and partner with legal counsel to recommend escalations as needed.
Maintain and monitor compliance, billing, and records for outside counsel and vendors.
What You Will Bring to the Table:
5+ years’ experience as a paralegal, with exposure to corporate, IP, and employment law.
Demonstrated experience preparing and responding to demand letters, preparing exhibits and affidavits, and organizing contracts/legal documents.
Strong understanding of labor & employment law, intellectual property, and corporate law concepts.
Skilled in legal research tools, compliance, document management, social media, and takedown mechanisms.
Excellent organizational and time management skills; you will be ready to hit the ground running.
Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
Superior communication skills; able to work professionally with executives, talent, employees, outside counsel, and partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
Paralegal certificate or formal legal training.
Strong familiarity with First Amendment/media law, rights clearance, trademark/copyright infringement/DMCA takedowns, and documentation in entertainment settings.
