Job Description

We are seeking a Federal Litigation Law Clerk (Licensed Attorney) to support Assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs) within the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Georgia.

This role offers unmatched, hands-on experience in federal criminal and civil litigation, providing direct exposure to high-level government legal work.

This is an exceptional opportunity for early-career attorneys to build a strong litigation foundation, gain DOJ-level experience, and position themselves for future roles in federal service, litigation boutiques, or prosecutorial careers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and review legal memoranda, motions, briefs, and proposed court orders

  • Conduct advanced legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and federal legal databases

  • Provide direct litigation and case support to Assistant U.S. Attorneys (AUSAs)

  • Assist with case preparation, discovery, and trial support

  • Track case filings, deadlines, and federal procedural requirements

  • Prepare case law summaries and legal analyses for active matters

  • Support both criminal and civil federal litigation cases

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state (required)

  • Minimum 1 year of post-JD legal experience

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Familiarity with federal court procedures preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research platforms

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Direct DOJ Exposure: Work alongside Assistant U.S. Attorneys on real federal cases

  • Hands-On Litigation Experience: Contribute to active criminal and civil matters—not just administrative tasks

  • Career Acceleration: Highly valuable experience for future roles such as AUSA positions, federal clerkships, or top-tier litigation firms

  • Inside Access to Federal Practice: Gain insight into federal procedures, strategy, and case development

  • High-Impact Work: Support matters that directly affect public interest and federal enforcement

Ideal Candidate
  • Early-career attorney seeking federal litigation experience

  • Prior internship, clerkship, or litigation experience preferred

  • Strong interest in public service, prosecution, or federal legal careers

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with attention to detail
