DutiesIf selected, you will serve as a Legal Administrative Specialist with the United States Attorney's Office, Central District of California. You will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a wide variety of technical and litigation support services. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Performing a variety of automated support necessary to prepare, organize, index, develop and manage exhibits, evidence and other relevant data;
- Applying basic knowledge of Federal Criminal and Civil procedures;
- Assisting legal support staff in organizing voluminous discovery applications;
- Preparing and organizing exhibits for court proceedings which involves audio/video, transcripts, documents and visual materials, including charts, diagrams, photographs and models;
- Preparing computerized trial presentation programs;
- Providing automated support to present before a jury, grand jury or in other legal proceedings; and
- Assuring documents are organized for efficient automated storage and retrieval by preparing appropriate indices, defining data file search criteria and indexing/coding fields.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Salary
- $58,244 - $75,722/year

- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, a combination of Education and Experience, OR Superior Academic Achievement.
Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service or private sector. Qualifying experience involves performing the following types of duties: performing routine litigation support assignments such as assisting with organizing case information; assisting attorneys in preparing for court by preparing exhibits, compiling trial notebooks, compiling witness and exhibit lists; preparing computerized trial presentations and exhibits; and conducting research, analysis and evaluation of data in response to requests.

Education: One full year of graduate education in a closely related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law).Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.

Superior Academic Achievement: Possess a Bachelor's Degree or expect to complete the requirements for a Bachelor's degree within the next 9 months AND possess at least one of the following criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two full years of curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in a major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of curriculum; OR election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
