Christian County Government See More Job Openings by This EmployerThe Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is seeking an experienced Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney to serve as the senior attorney within the office and assist the Prosecuting Attorney with the administration and operation of the office.
The Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney will handle complex and serious felony criminal matters, represent the State of Missouri in court, make charging decisions, provide legal guidance to law enforcement, and conduct legal research and litigation. This position will also provide leadership, mentorship, training, and supervision to assistant prosecutors and staff and assist with caseload management, office policies, and other administrative responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing with the Missouri Bar.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing criminal law and/or prosecuting criminal cases.
- First-chair experience in a minimum of 25 jury trials.
- Significant experience handling felony criminal cases and complex criminal litigation.
- Strong trial advocacy, legal research, writing, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
The successful candidate must demonstrate sound professional judgment, strong leadership abilities, and the ability to work effectively with law enforcement, courts, victims, witnesses, defense counsel, and other criminal justice partners. Experience using PROSECUTOR by Karpel or another electronic case management system is preferred. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment drug screenings, and participate in random drug testing.
