Internship Overview:
The primary goal of the internship is to provide the students or graduate with practical experience in a particular department with actual role responsibilities and projects, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. Throughout the internship, students will gain hands-on experience in related functional role initiatives, conduct research, and enhance their understanding of industry standards and practices.
In addition, the program will incorporate weekly workshops and/or meetings with Senior Leadership to support all interns in their development of professional and life skills. We promise a rewarding experience in the 11+ weeks with Takasago.
As the Intern for legal, you will receive the exposure to a range of legal issues within a corporate setting as well as learn about the company and its products.
Essential Job Functions:
- Under the supervision of the General Counsel, design and create internal Legal Department webpages on the company intranet to provide relevant information to company employees relating to the Legal Dept and its processes and procedures, as well as general legal information
- Assist in-house attorneys, paralegal, and contract manager with various projects that may arise throughout the summer
- Assist in department training of business personnel in the use of the electronic contract database system, including assisting business personnel in the submission of contract and contract modifications for legal review and in searching of the contract database
- Edit and format documents produced by the in-house attorneys, as requested
- Create presentations and reports for the in-house attorneys, as directed
- Assist in docketing/data entry within the electronic legal filing database system, including documents related to company contracts, invention/patent, and other general legal files
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) program
- Interest in understanding the practice of law within a law dept setting
- Ability to properly handle and protect confidential data and information
- Must be well organized and detail oriented with ability to balance multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in team setting
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong oral and written communication skills
