JOB SUMMARY

As a Litigation Attorney with Ramos Law, you’ll lead complex medical medical malpractice cases from initial evaluation through resolution or trial, ensuring successful advocacy, guidance, and outcomes. This includes conducting in‑depth claim investigations, analyzing medical and legal issues, crafting litigation strategies, drafting and arguing motions, directing discovery, taking and defending depositions, collaborating with medical experts, and representing clients in court—all while maintaining compliance and effectively leveraging the firm’s case management systems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

More specifically, you’ll:

Manage litigation cases from filing to resolution, including client engagement, contracts, pleadings, discovery, motions, and documentation.

Analyze and prepare cases for litigation by reviewing evidence, assessing liability and damages, and developing trial strategies.

Communicate with clients and stakeholders (experts, witnesses, opposing counsel) to gather information, build trust, and provide regular updates.

Review and organize medical records and supporting documentation to strengthen case arguments and trial preparation.

Draft, review, and file legal documents, including complaints, answers, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and trial briefs.

Conduct and respond to discovery, take and defend depositions, and prepare expert witnesses for testimony.

Represent clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, ensuring persuasive and professional advocacy.

Monitor litigation budgets and ensure compliance with firm policies and client agreements.

Stay current on case law, statutes, and procedural rules through ongoing legal research and professional development.



Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

Juris Doctor degree with an active admission to the Colorado Bar.

3+ years of experience practicing law, with substantive experience in medical malpractice, complex civil litigation, or related healthcare‑focused practice areas.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong understanding of medical malpractice law, including standards of care, causation analysis, damages, and relevant Colorado statutes and procedural rules.

Demonstrated ability in drafting and arguing motions, preparing pleadings, managing written discovery, and conducting and defending depositions—including expert, treating provider, and party depositions.

Skilled in representing clients at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, with the ability to present complex medical and legal issues clearly and persuasively.

Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to evaluate extensive medical records, consult with experts, and build sound litigation strategies.

Proficient in legal research and fact analysis to support case theory development and motion practice.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining intricate medical‑legal concepts to clients, colleagues, and juries.

Strong negotiation and advocacy abilities to achieve efficient and favorable outcomes.

High‑level interpersonal skills for building trust and maintaining professional relationships with clients, experts, colleagues, and opposing counsel.

Proficiency with MS Office and legal case management systems; capable of working effectively in a paperless, technology‑driven environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience handling medical malpractice litigation from intake through resolution.

Experience collaborating with medical experts and analyzing complex medical documentation.
