Job Summary:

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Child and Family Protection Division/Protective Services Section is seeking a Legal secretary. This position will provide entry level secretarial and administrative support for the office Assistant Attorney Generals and staff.
Remote Options: This position may be eligible for Remote Work two days a week.

Job Duties:

The Legal Secretary I provides entry level secretarial and administrative support for the office which includes, but is not limited to; drafting and typing correspondence and basic pleadings; answering inquiries from the client, court personnel and others regarding case activity and status; inputting data into and using an automated case management system to maintain and track case records and activity; independently generating legal forms needed in all types of actions; maintaining court calendar and legal deadlines; preparing documents and other projects as assigned, including coordinating case transfers. Monitoring several inboxes and distribution from these boxes to assigned AAGs and staff. Duties involve reviewing, creating and processing materials and information that are confidential pursuant to federal and state laws.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge
• Knowledge of word processing equipment and programs, legal terminology, legal forms, court procedures and applicable time-frames, in general and specifically and extensive knowledge of Juvenile Court Rules related to dependency, severance and guardianship practice, the principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques common to modern law office

Skill
• Typing at least 60 WPM
• Oral and written communication
• Interpersonal relationships
• Manage/handle a heavy work load under time pressure with multiple deadlines

Ability
• Must be able to handle a high volume of work and stressful situations.
• Ability to operate word processor for preparation of legal documents
• Ability to track and follow through on voluminous court actions in various states
• Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.

• Travel may be required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
