Job Description:

The Paralegal will directly assist and support multiple lawyers in the insurance companies' legal department, with a focus on corporate governance, entity management, corporate record maintenance and compliance/regulatory filings. The ideal candidate will have a corporate paralegal background with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain corporate and regulatory filing calendar
  • Prepare, process and track state, local and regulatory filings with Secretaries of State and Departments of Insurance
  • Prepare drafts of legal documents, including governing documents, secretary certificates, board consents and minutes
  • Maintain corporate minutes and entity records
  • Provide administrative and paralegal support to multiple attorneys, including scheduling, expense reporting and travel arrangements
  • Gather documents and respond to subpoenas or other legal process and/or claims-related matters
  • Support the vendor/contract management function, including managing the digital signature function
  • Review and process incoming mail and documents
  • Communicate with and provide support for business/operations partners

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Ideally has a minimum of 3-5 years of corporate paralegal experience in either a law firm or an in-house legal department
  • Understanding of insurance and/or compliance processes in a regulated industry (preferred)
  • Understanding of litigation processes and high comfort level in dealing with litigation documents (preferred)
  • Familiarity with software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Understanding of current activities within a legal department enabling appropriate responses to inquiries
  • Prior experience managing expansive and complex organizational/entity structures
  • Superior interpersonal skills:

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong sense of integrity and ethics
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal and communication skills

Education:

Undergraduate degree preferred

A Registered Paralegal (RP) certification is preferred
