Job Summary
We are seeking a mid-level Construction Litigation Associate with three to six years of experience to join our close-knit team. This role offers meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to develop deep subject-matter expertise in construction law. The ideal candidate enjoys litigation, takes ownership of their work, and is motivated by the prospect of growing into a long-term role within a small firm environment. Associates work closely with partners while also managing substantial aspects of matters independently.
Responsibilities
- Manage construction-related disputes from inception through resolution, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice
- Draft and review construction contracts and related documents such as subcontracts, change orders, and claims correspondence
- Handle matters involving public bidding, procurement, delay and extra work claims, mechanic’s liens, and bond claims
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and dispositive motions
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and court appearances with increasing autonomy
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and project stakeholders
- Advise clients on dispute avoidance, risk assessment, and claim prevention strategies
- Contribute to business and professional development within the construction community
Qualifications
- Three to six years of substantive litigation experience in Construction Law required
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Admission in good standing to the Massachusetts bar
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills, supported by a writing sample
- Ability to manage cases or significant components with appropriate supervision
- Professional judgment, attention to detail, and reliability
- Collaborative mindset suited to a small, collegial firm
- Genuine interest in a long-term career in construction law and partnership
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range of approximately $130,000 - $160,000 depending on experience
