Employee Job Title: Compliance Paralegal

Location: Hybrid

Hours: Full-time, Mon - Fri, between 8:00 am - 4:30 pm PST

Reports to: Director of Operations

Compensation: Non-Exempt

 

Job Description: The Compliance Paralegal will provide critical support for the company’s legal and compliance efforts. This role requires expertise in navigating regulatory frameworks, intellectual property management, quality control and assurance, and contract administration. The Compliance Paralegal will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all company operations, products, and systems adhere to applicable federal, state, and international laws, working collaboratively with internal teams and external counsel

Responsibilities:
 

Regulatory Compliance
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and international regulations affecting the company’s products, packaging, labeling, and eCommerce listings (e.g., FIFRA exemptions)
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with state and federal laws governing pest control products
  • Research and implement international compliance requirements for expansion into new markets
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation of new compliance measures
Quality Assurance and Risk Management
  • Support the development of legally compliant quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) policies, procedures, and training materials, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and regulatory standards
  • Ensure compliance with product safety and regulatory standards by collaborating with the products team to document testing protocols, results, and audit findings
  • Support product recall procedures, including coordination with regulatory agencies and internal teams
  • Collaborate with external auditors to prepare for quality inspections and certifications
  • Identify and mitigate risks in operational and marketing processes
Intellectual Property (IP) Management
  • Manage the company’s IP portfolio, including trademark and copyright applications and renewals
  • Conduct preliminary trademark searches and address potential IP infringements, drafting cease-and-desist letters as needed
  • Maintain organized IP records and support strategic IP development
Contract Management
  • Review, complete, and maintain attorney-approved contracts, including NDAs, vendor agreements, and licensing agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Establish a centralized contract database and ensure timely renewals or terminations by legal requirements
  • Collaborate with external counsel to address complex legal contract issues
Legal Research and Documentation
  • Research emerging laws and regulations to ensure compliance and notify owners of any impacts on the S-Corp business entity
  • Prepare legal documentation for audits, disputes, and inspections, as well as reports for owners and legal counsel review
  • Maintain organized legal files for internal use and regulatory submissions
System Development
  • Design and implement tools and workflows for tracking compliance, product registrations, and legal updates
  • Establish systems to streamline the management of compliance risks, QC/QA records, and regulatory changes
  • Support consumer complaint resolution processes with potential legal implications
Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; paralegal certification strongly preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in a regulatory or compliance-focused paralegal role, ideally within eCommerce or a similar industry


Competencies: 

  • In-depth understanding of federal and state regulatory frameworks, including FIFRA and international standards
  • Proven experience managing intellectual property, including trademarks and copyrights
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Strong collaboration skills for effective cross-departmental and external partnerships
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and contract management software

Salary
  • $20 - $35/hour
