Job Description

 

The NFL Players Association (NFLPA) is seeking highly organized, detail-oriented Legal Coordinator to join our Legal team! The Legal Department protects and enforces the rights of NFL players, the NFLPA and its subsidiaries. In addition to filing grievances to enforce provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and NFL Player Contracts, the Legal Department assists the Executive Department with collective bargaining and oversees all legal matters involving the NFLPA and NFL Players Inc.

 

The ideal candidate for Legal Coordinator should be a team player who is energetic and self-motivated to handle the administrative support functions related to the Substances of Abuse Program and Policy and the Policy for Performance Enhancing Substances. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information are a must. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Respects sensitivity and maintains confidentiality of department’s records and information
  • Possesses strong knowledge of NFL/NFLPA Policy & Program for Substances of Abuse (SOA) and NFL/NFLPA Policy on Performance Enhancing Substances (PES)
  • Maintains a confidential database and tracking system of players involved in the PES and SOA programs, ensuring database is accurate and up to date
  • Works with NFL Management Council representative to coordinate hearing schedules related to the SOA and PES policies
  • Processes all incoming correspondence for the Substances of Abuse and Performance Enhancing Substances Programs in a timely manner; ensures players are notified of discipline notices and appeal rights.
  • Works with laboratories to coordinate testing of supplements covered under the PES policy.
  • Works with the Wellness Department to ensure Drug Policy webpage is accurate and up to date; communicates any policy changes or alerts to be included in player communication.
  • Prepares reports for dissemination of data related to both drug policies and program.
  • Attends any meetings related to the Policies meetings as needed.
  • Processes requests for EMRs (Electronic Medical Records).
  • Assists with Injury Grievances, medical record requests, scheduling, discovery production, and hearing binders.
  • Assists as needed with PCP investigations.

 

This position is represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), Local 2 and is governed by the collective bargaining agreement between the NFLPA and OPEIU, Local 2. This position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime); the starting salary is $58,000 annually. Additionally, the NFLPA offers a comprehensive benefit package, a fun, learning culture, and flexible work environment. Full-time employees are required to work in the office four days a week starting September 2, 2025.
