Overview:

The IP Paralegal / IP Law Clerk position will be a part of Mitel's global Legal Team. The position will be split between supporting intellectual property data management and general legal administrative tasks. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively

Responsibilities:

  • Daily patent and trademark docketing using online tools.

  • Preparation of patent related documents for submission to the USPTO, e.g., IDS, assignments, declarations, and patent applications.

  • Effective communication with IP various vendors and counsels for IP asset renewals, patent prosecution, and litigation tracking.  

    Corporate and IP (and non-IP) litigation tracking, reporting, and support.

  • As required, coordination and oversight of legal team / corporate driven projects, tracking, and organizing action items (non IP specific in nature).

  • Ability to work closely with a single lawyer and as part of a larger legal team.

  • Support legal projects globally

Requirements:

  • Paralegal diploma; or high school diploma + law clerk and/or experience in IP roles.

  • 1-3+ years of experience in IP paralegal/law clerk support role to include patent and trademark experience; IP litigation experience highly preferred

  • Corporate paralegal/law clerk experience preferred

  • Proficiency in using legal and IP software tools such as Foundation IP, CPA Global, and Private Pair are strongly preferred but not essential.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work harmoniously in a diverse and changing work environment.

  • Experience in an international environment highly preferred
